On Today

On today I learned about family
In the midst of emotions grief
On today I learned about death
It approaches like a thief
On today I learned about value
As of people in your life
On today I learned about forgiveness
In the midst of family strife
On today I lost Aunt Cindy
Whom I love with all my heart
And in her memory, I’ll do all I can
To not let us fall apart
So from this day
If you need me
I promise I’ll be there
Any ties that may have broken
I am trying to repair
Because family is something you only get once
And before you know it, it’s gone
And a families love
Is far and above
Better than being alone
So thank you Aunt Cindy
For all my life
The love that you have shown
And thanks for giving me
The strength that I needed
To make it on my own
When I am old
To Great Grandkids
This story I will tell
Of how my family was bonded with love
from Aunt Cindy Gertrude Bell
